Florida is a birding hot spot in North America. Because of the subtropical climate, it is more comfortable to get there in February and March and it is the best time for bird watching. Migrant birds are still here and, in many places, breeding species are already nesting. These past years, I have spent weeks in the Everglades. Today this vast wetland has been reduced to a small portion of its original size but it is still the place to come to watch and photograph the wood storks and other long-legs wading birds (herons, egrets, ibis, spoonbills). Canoeing here can still be a surprisingly adventure and the best way to get far from the crowd and coexist with birds and alligators. All these pictures were shot during my last canoe trip. They are available at my office. Contact: philippe_henry@hotmail.com |
