December 13, 2005. The
temperature has dipped below freezing during the
night. There is 3 feet of snow on the forest
ground. I have to drag myself from the warm
sleeping bag, pack the tent, get the camera ready,
and venture farther in the wilderness for another
day of nature photography in La Mauricie National
Park in Quebec. This park is one of my favorite
winter spot.
I like winter. I like shooting in cold weather
when the ice and snow shape the landscapes. Beyond
the challenge of exposing properly is the reward of
shooting a never-ending nature transformation. I
like to walk along brooks and rivers when water
evaporates and freezes over grass, leaves and
twigs. Patterns by hundreds and ever changing ice
sculptures give you the possibility to create a
unique portfolio.
Here are some of the pictures I shot these past
years in La Mauricie National Park and elsewhere in
North America and Europe.
